Class Reward:  The students worked hard these last two weeks and earned themselves a prize!  Tomorrow we will be enjoying hot chocolate and brownies!  Well done, Grade 5!

No Spelling This Week!

Ski Trip:  The countdown is on regarding the ski trip. The Intermediate ski trip is this Friday, Jan. 25th.

On Friday, if your child is riding the bus, please have them to the school lobby by 6:30, as the bus is scheduled to leave at 6:45 am (sharp).  We will not be able to delay for late comers. For the afternoon pickup, please be at the school at 4:30 pm. Please do not wait for a call from your child as this will delay the teachers having to wait as well.

Students should bring plenty of food and juice as we’ll be gone for about 10 hours. Please remember to bring your equipment (if you are not renting), sleds & a helmet if you aren’t renting, plenty of warm clothes (a change of dry clothes is a good idea for the trip home), and something to do on the bus (no electronics please).  We’d appreciate your prayers for safety, and God’s protection on our day.

PS. Parents, if you are driving to the ski hill, you do not need to meet us at the school first.  In fact we encourage you to arrive at the ski hill ahead of the bus as the rental office is willing to process your rentals before the bus arrives. Just let them know that you are part of the Highroad Intermediate field trip and make sure they check your name off of the registration list. Tell them your ID number and that will help them find your registration.

Your child’s teacher will be giving out the ID numbers to help facilitate finding your names on the registration list. When the bus arrives, students will line up by ID number order and lift tickets will be handed out.

Report Cards:  Our department will be handing them out on Monday, January 28th due to the ski trip on Friday.

Skating Field Trip:  New forms will be coming home this week!  We will now be skating on Monday, February 11th & Monday, February 25th.

Skating Trip

We have had some last minute changes with our skating trip and are now in the process of finding some new dates.  Please disregard the skating field trip form that went home today and thank you for your understanding.

Thank you for being prompt in your ski trip payments this week.  It really help us mainstream the process and get things in order for our trip!  We have added up the number of people wanting to take the bus vs the number of seats available and it is VERY TIGHT.  We will currently need many people to sit three to a seat – which is uncomfortable given the long distance we are travelling.  If you are able to drive to Manning we ask that you email Mrs. Goosen as soon as possible.  Her email address is pgoosen@highroadacademy.com.  We are looking forward to a wonderful day on the hill!

We have gotten back into the swing of things and have made it to the end of our first week back!  The students worked hard and were very focused this week!  Well done, Grade 5!  We have a number of things coming up this month…

Chilliwack Chief Tickets – It was such a treat getting Chilliwack Chief’s tickets for this Saturday’s game.  Due to the high demand, we thought it would be best to give each family enough tickets for their Highroad aged children to go along with one parent.  If additional family members want to join they can purchase a ticket at the gate for $16.  Children’s tickets are $5.  As tickets are assigned seating, you may need to find a different spot to sit if you are purchasing additional tickets.

New Bible Memory Verses start next week!

Settlers of Catan Games Needed:  If you are an owner of the board game Settlers of Catan, we are asking if we could borrow your game for our Wednesday afternoon (January 16th). We are starting a new unit about the natural resources of Canada. If we get 4-5 boards would be wonderful. Please let Mrs. Ellis (mellis@highroadacademy.com) know if you can send a game along. Thank you.

SKI TRIP PAYMENT TODAY
After school today is the final day to pay for the ski trip.  If you are paying by cash or cheque please head to the lobby.  Interac can be paid at the office.

CHIEFS TICKETS AVAILABLE

We had some special guests visit us yesterday and they left us a stack of Chilliwack Chief tickets for the game this Saturday night.   If you would like to take your child or family to the game please let your child’s teacher know by Thursday.  We ask that you bring family members only as we want to service as many intermediate students as possible.  Please include how many tickets you would like.

Game details: Saturday, January 12th.  7pm start.  Playing Surrey Eagles

Ski Trip Payment This Week

Please come to the lobby on Wednesday, January 9^th or Thursday, January 10^th to pay for the ski trip.  We will be taking payment after school, from 3:10 – 3:50 pm.  Cash or cheque will be taken in the lobby or you can pay by interac at the office.  Please note that we will not be making changes to registration, nor will we be accepting new registrants.

New Bible Memory Verse on the Blog!  The new BMV will be coming home this week and we will begin our scripture memory on Wednesday, January 16th.
