I thought I would send our weekly update a couple of days early as I wanted to remind you about two things coming up on Friday.

Green Dress-Up Day Tomorrow!

Donut Fundraiser:  On Friday students will have the opportunity to purchase a donut for a minimum donation of $2.  All money raised will go towards the Guatemala fundraiser.

Class Party:  We are having a class party on Friday afternoon.  Please send along a snack to share.

Group Chat:  Ms. Miller and I wanted to let you know we have a large number of students that are involved in a group chat (texting).  Over the last week or so, Ms Miller and I have been involved in a number of conversations with students where feelings have been hurt due to things written in this chat.  If your child is involved in this group chat, we encourage you to discuss appropriate usage when it comes to texting and maybe have a peek at the thread to keep you ‘in the loop’.  Thank you for your help in this matter.  =)

HAVE A WONDERFUL SPRING BREAK!!!

We are on the home stretch before spring break!  Students had a GREAT week this week – they had FANTASTIC  Hero Project presentations, have been learning about elapsed time, and have started their respiratory system brochures.

Things Coming Up…

Donut Fundraiser:  Students can bring $2 next Friday for a delicious Safeway donut.  All money raised will go towards our Guatemala fundraiser.

Green Clothing on Thursday: Students can wear green clothing next Thursday for St. Patrick’s Day.

Class Party on Friday:  Students have earned a class party and we will celebrate on Friday afternoon.  Please send along a snack to share.

Field Trip Forms:  Please return the field trip form by next Thursday.

We had a productive week in the Grade 5 classroom!  Students have worked hard this week as we are both starting and finishing up various units!  Social studies projects are well underway, Respiratory projects have begun and we are also finishing up our division unit this week.  The countdown to spring break is on and we are proud of how focused students have been despite being SO EXCITED for spring break!

Donut Fundraiser:  The Elementary department is doing $2 donut fundraiser for the school in Guatemala. On Friday, March 18, students can bring $2 to their teacher and at lunch they will receive a glazed donut from Safeway bakery. We have ordered enough for each student to have one donut if they wish.

Class Photos:  Class photos have been changed to Monday, March 7th as the weather looks perfect for outdoor class pictures.

BMV Reminder:  We have a number of students who are not coming to school with their Bible Memory verse prepared.  We send home the verse and post it on our blog.  Please encourage your child to work on their BMV each week.

Math Quiz Coming Home:  Please look over your child’s Math quiz, sign it, and have it returned to school on Monday.  If you would like a re-test please add that onto the quiz. I will re-test on TUESDAY.
