Weekly Update

It was a great week here in the Grade 5 classroom.  We have been busy finishing up our novel study with final projects, the class has been working on their Olympic biographies, we started Simple Machine centers as well as a new Math unit on adding and subtracting decimals.  Phew!

Pancake Breakfast:  Term 2 is coming to a close and that means spring break is right around the corner!  To celebrate we are having a pancake breakfast for grades 4-6 on Friday, March 16th.  Breakfast will be served before school, between 8:00 – 8:50am in Mrs. Goosen and Mr. Hancock’s portables.  Come early, get some fluffy pancakes, and celebrate a great term with us.  *We are in need of some parent helpers and griddles.  If you are able to help, please email aderksen@highroadacademy.com*

Collecting Items for Missions Trip – We are collecting items for our missions teams to take with them on their missions trip this March.  Below are a list of things that we would love help collecting.:  pencils, pens, crayons, pencil crayons, rulers, erasers, scissors, pencil sharpeners, small toys (no weapons please), small stuffed animals, kids hats and sunglasses, band-aids, hair brushes/combs, hair accessories, tooth brushes, small toothpaste, face cloths, children’s summer clothes, twin cotton sheets, baby toys, sleepers & blankets.  ***We currently have two items in our collection box.  If you could help out, it would be greatly appreciated***

Bible Memory Verse Change:  The March Bible Memory Verse sheet was sent home last week.  We are going to make a slight change and only do Isaiah 53:4 this Wednesday and Isaiah 53:5 the following Wednesday.  I will put the updated verses on the blog, under the Bible Memory Verse section.

Upcoming Dates:

March 9th:  Half Day, noon dismissal

March 16th:  Pancake Breakfast, St. Patrick’s Dress Up, Report Cards go home

March 17th – April 2nd:  Spring Break

    Wow, some of these Olympic skiers have super steep hills to go down😬

    quick question about the pancake breakfast: if I come and help flip pancakes can my other 2 kids eat there too or is the breakfast just for 4-6 gr?

      Unfortunately breakfast is for grades 4-6 only…sorry! We would love to see you if it works!
