Weekly Update
This week was full of fun things…pumpkin Math, dress up & hot dog day and class store! Not to say we didn’t get a lot of great learning in, because we sure did! Here’s a snapshot of what we did in class this week:
Math – we finished up our unit on addition and subtraction and will spend some time working on multiplication. Students will soon be bringing home some multiplication flash cards and I will be testing them weekly. It is our hope that students will become fluent in their times tables up to 10.
Language Arts – We continued Wonder. This week we were looking for new vocabulary words and continued to discuss perspective. We finished up a personal narrative writing piece where students wrote about a time they needed to be brave.
Social Studies – Our student votes were counted. We discussed how votes are counted and compared our class to the rest of the province – our results were very different!
Art – We are in the middle of assembling our ‘Elements of Art’ project. They’ll all be hung up in our classroom next week.
Science – This week we looked at how much food we throw into the garbage and discussed the importance of composting.
French – we are starting to learn basic greetings.
