We had a great week here in the Grade 5 classroom!  Here is a snapshot of what we have been working on:

Math – we finished up our learning on Fractions and will begin working with decimals next week:

Science – we finished our exploratory centers with the digestive system and will continue our learning next week.

Writing – the class has been enjoying our poetry slam and the fun poems we have been writing.  We have another week of poetry writing before we move on to our next unit.

Reading: We worked on summarization this week.

Social Studies: The class discussed their ideas for how to colonize Mars. Each group was responsible for a different aspect of how our community would thrive as we immigrate. We learned that making decisions for a large group of people is very challenging and that we all have different ideas about what is best for our survival.

Things Coming Up:

No BMV this week.

Save the date:  We have a field trip to Lindeman Lake on Thursday, May 27th.  We would love parents to join us on this trip.  You will need to ensure that your criminal record check information is up to date at the office and meet us at the trailhead.  We will plan to leave school at 9:15 and return around 2:00.
