Weekly Update

Happy Friday to you all!  We had a full week here in the Grade Five classroom and the students have been hard at work!  We have begun a new Math unit, learned about separating solutions, started brainstorming a new story and the students get to spend their hard earned money at the class store today!

Here are a few things for you to note:

Candy from home:  I really like to limit the amount of candy that comes into the classroom.  Students occasionally get a small piece of candy from me and they can purchase candy at the school store at the end of the month.  I would ask that students not bring any candy from home, as excess sugar for students = unfocus in the classroom.  Thank you for helping us with this!

Masks:  Just a friendly reminder to send your child to school with a mask every day.  We are going through a high number of reusable masks and it would be helpful if students brought them from home.

Library Fundraisers:  The library is having two fundraisers to help raise money to purchase new books.

  1.  Starburst in a Jar – students can bring $1 and guess how many starbursts are in the jar.  Winner gets the candy!
  2. SinAmen Bun fundraising sheet went home yesterday.  Please send your order into the office by November 30th.

French Quiz on Friday, November 5th:  Students will have a ‘matching’ french quiz on greetings and leave-takings.  They will bring their duotangs home this weekend to study.

Genius Hour:  Next Tuesday we will have our Genius Hour kickoff.  Genius hour will take place on Friday afternoons, from 2:00 – 2:50.

Bible Memory:  There is no BMV next week but the students will bring home a sheet for the 2nd – 4th weeks in November.  Just a reminder that there is a Bible Memory tab at the top of the blog – in case your child loses their sheet and needs to study. =)
