Weekly Update
We had a great week this week and enjoyed the beautiful Remembrance Day assembly this morning. Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve been working on this week:
- Students are LOVING Amal Unbound, the novel we are studying. We will finish it up early next week.
- Multi-digit multiplication was what we started working on this week. It can be a tricky concept for some students. We will keep working on this over the next couple of weeks.
- We did a variety of activities this week leading up to Remembrance Day.
- We learned about colour theory this week and students went into the garden and looked for different coloured items to put around the colour wheel. We will begin a colour name art project next week.
- We finished our mini-unit on the overview of the Bible and we have been working on memorizing books of the old testament (we are up to Ruth).
- We had our ‘Beat the Teacher’ book reading reveal today! I managed to read 11 books since the beginning of the school year. All students that read more than 11 will receive a slurpee on Monday afternoon. Students will now begin again & have until spring break to try and beat the number of books I can read!
Parent Teacher Interviews: Just a reminder that there is no school on Wednesday, as I will be meeting with each of you! =)
Scholastic Book Fair: Next week is our scholastic book fair. Tuesday – Thursday the book fair will be open before and after school for students and parents to purchase books. It will also be open on Wednesday if you’d like to take a look while you are here for interviews.
Library Fundraiser: Coffee and cinnamon buns…you really can’t go wrong with this! Use the link to support the school library! https://www.highroadacademy.com/myhra/store
