My apologies for not sending this on the weekend! I started the blog post and meant to return to it, but the weekend came around and I forgot!
We had an AMAZING day at the track meet on Thursday and I was SO PROUD of the students! Students competed well and gave it their all. There were lots of giggles and it seemed like students enjoyed the day! I have a bunch of photos for you to enjoy.

Art Gala: We are delighted to extend an enthusiastic invitation to our upcoming Art Gala, where we will proudly present a collection of artwork created by our exceptionally talented students in Grades 4, 5, and 6. This event promises to be a wonderful celebration of their artistic achievements throughout the past year, and we cordially invite all families to join us for an unforgettable evening filled with creativity and inspiration.
Date: May 27 from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM. Location: Chapel
To create a warm and inclusive atmosphere, we kindly request that students be accompanied by their parents or guardians. This will provide an opportunity for families to share in the joy and pride of witnessing their child’s artistic endeavours firsthand.

Willy Wonka: We are looking forward to the Willy Wonka show at HUB Theatre on Friday, May 24th. Please send in your child’s permission form as soon as possible.
Spring Showcase: We are excited about the spring showcase coming up on Thursday, May 16th at 1:30. This will take place in the gym and we’d love to see you there!
Attire for the spring showcase is as follows:
– Opt for jeans, shorts, or flowy dresses in bright, cheerful colors
– Avoid track pants and sweatshirts
– Be mindful of dress length if performing on stage
– Gentlemen can rock a stylish suit
Most importantly, wear something that makes you feel great and have a blast at the concert!

Track Meet Tomorrow
We can’t wait for our track meet tomorrow! Just a friendly reminder to have your child wear their HRA PE shirt. The bus leaves at 7:00 am sharp, so please plan to have your child at school by 6:50. For parents driving, aim to arrive at South Surrey Athletic Park by 8:30am, with events starting at 9:00am. Let’s have a fantastic day together!
Happy rainy Friday! We had a great week here in the Grade Five classroom! A lot is happening in these coming weeks…here we go!
Bake Sale on Tuesday: We are excited to have the kindness crew host a bake sale supporting the library. All items are $1 and students will be able to purchase items throughout the day. If you bring treats, please drop them off in the lobby before school. If you have a tray, please ensure your name is on it so we can return it. Thank you for your support!
Empty Pop/Gatorade/Water Bottle Needed on Monday: We are creating a model of the lungs on Monday. Please send along a bottle if you have one.
Track Meet: Your child will be bringing home a sheet on Monday with final information about our upcoming meet. Please note that the bus leaves at 7:00am and will return at approximately 3:45pm.
Bible Memory Verse due on Tuesday – Psalms 95:1-7.
Starbooks Cafe: Yesterday morning students walked into a classroom transformed into a cozy coffee shop. They listened to calming jazz music, snacked on tasty treats, and browsed through different books. They picked a book to read for our upcoming book clubs. It was a fun morning for everyone!

We’ve had a great week here in the Grade 5 Classroom! Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve been working on.
Reading: Finishing up a combined Science & Reading project on the digestive system. Students may be bringing home brochures this weekend to finish them up as they will not have any more classroom time to complete them.
Writing: Students are working on comparative writing as well as weekly grammar practice.
Math: We’ve just finished our unit on patterns and algebra and will begin fractions and decimals next week.
Science: Students are learning about the respiratory system.
Social Studies: Students are finishing up a project on a region of Canada.
Bible: Explored how God created us each unique.
PE: We are getting ready for the upcoming track meet and focused on the 400 m run & long jump

The crew will be involved in creating posters, bringing treats and selling at the sale. We are asking students involved to please bring one dozen treats on the morning of April 30th. All items will be sold for $1.
