I hope you are enjoying the weekend and have been able to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather! I have spent the week recovering at home and look forward to returning back tomorrow!
Here are a few things to note for this week:
BMV on Monday: Ephesians 3: 14-19
Field Trip on Tuesday: The bus will depart promptly at 8:30, so students must be at school by 8:20 at the latest. Please make sure they have adequate water and snacks for the long bus journey to Vancouver. We are looking forward to this field trip and believe it will be a fantastic day!
Missions Fundraiser: We are excited to be raising money to provide clean water for communities in the Philippines that really need it. Our goal is to raise $6,000 in February. Donations can be made online: Clean Water Project Donations (jotform.com) or at the school office. All donations $20 or above will receive a tax receipt.
Valentine’s Colour Dress-up Day: On Valentine’s Day students can dress up in Valentine’s colours.
I hope your kiddos enjoyed the extra day off this week! My apologies for getting this out to you a bit later than usual. I (Mrs. G) had an accident on Friday evening. I was running to my car and tripped, hitting my mouth on the pavement. I also managed to fracture my right ankle and spent a long night in the ER. I will be home this week recovering and am hopeful that I can return next week. Mrs. Shortridge will be with the students on Wednesday and Jase’s mom, Mrs. Hemming, will be in on Thursday and Friday.
Just one thing to note this week:
Field Trip Forms: Please ensure these are returned tomorrow!
Happy Friday & Snow Day #3! I hope your family has been keeping warm with all this crazy weather…and I hope your kiddos aren’t going too squirrely! I know my boys have been THRILLED to have three days off of school!
I don’t have much to report since the class has been home for over half of the week. 😀
Genius Hour Assembly: We will reschedule this for the first week of February.
French Quiz: This will take place on Thursday, January 25th.
We just wrapped up our first week back after a fantastic two-week break! Mrs. Shortridge and I were really impressed with how quickly the students got back into the groove of things. We also enjoyed a cozy casual day this week and got to enjoy some delicious homemade beef vegetable soup made with vegetables from the Highroad Garden.
Cozy Casual Day (again) this Wednesday: Lucky students…they get one more!
French Quiz on Thursday: Students brought home a study guide for a French quiz on Thursday.
Munch a Lunch: If you haven’t done so already, update your pizza orders on munch a lunch.
Genius Hour Launch on Wednesday: We’re thrilled to start Genius Hour next week. Our Genius Hour kickoff assembly is scheduled for Wednesday, and following that, a parent letter will be sent home. This is an exciting opportunity for students to delve into their interests and select a topic they’re eager to explore further.
We hope you had a wonderful Christmas break! We wanted to give you a heads-up that tomorrow is a cozy casual day – this is a prize for meeting our goal with the Christmas hamper items you provided.
Rube Goldberg Videos: My apologies for not getting this to you sooner – I meant to post this before the break. The students did SUCH an amazing job on their Rube Goldberg machines. Enjoy the video Mrs. Shortridge created!
It’s hard to believe we just have a few more school days until Christmas break! I hope you were able to make it to the Christmas concert this afternoon – the kids sure did an amazing job! This week was a busy one…students finishing up with the Amal Unbound novel study by working through an escape room, finishing their division booklets, working hard on their Rube Goldberg machines and starting to learn about Christmas Around the World.
Here are a few last things coming up before the break:
